6 Things To Do During Earth Hour

Earth Hour is a time to unplug the laptop, put down the phone, turn off the lights, and to celebrate how you (yes, you) can have a big impact on the health of our planet with few simple actions.

But, as students, what are you suppose to do for a whole hour without power? Here's a helpful list:

1) Read A Textbook

You may have turned off your light, but that doesn't mean that you can't read. Climb under the covers, pull out the flashlight, and pretend you're a kid again. Or, snuggle up to a fireplace and read... or if there's a group of you, come together in a single room with a single lamp (possibly a battery powered lamp) and share the light.

2) Take A Nap

No power, no problem! You can always benefit from a little extra rest and relaxation.

3) Ponder

Do you ever feel like there is just too much going on to really stop and think about the big questions in life? Questions like, what should your paper be on? What are you going to do for the summer? Do you actually like your major? Do you know what you want to do next? What should you have for a snack? Enjoy the quiet of Earth Hour and enjoy some quiet thinking time. You could even use the time to organize your week.

4) Have A Conversation - In Person

Hang out with your friends/family/roommates/neighbours and just talk.

5) Eat

Time your evening just right and have your meal during Earth Hour... you can even make it romantic by adding a little candlelight.

6) Go For  A Walk

Head outdoors and enjoy the light of the moon!
