It's March 17... which means that the chances of seeing green are just a little bit higher than average today. And I would argue that at UAlberta we have an even higher chance of sighting a little extra green on campus.
So without further adieu, here are the 5 types of people you'll likely see wearing green today:
"I'm Irish for Today" Guy/Girl

"I'm Irish for Today" guy/girl is likely to be wearing a green t-shirt and carrying a green beer (hopefully in a bar...). And they may or may not try to speak with a slight Irish lilt. (note: Irish lilts are more likely to occur following a visit to a local pub.) This is also the person most likely to attempt a jig (which should hopefully lead to some hilarious vines).
"I'm Wearing a Hoodie Because I'm Cold" Person
Given that we attend a school whose colours are green and gold, a lot of our hoodies, sweaters, and branded t-shirts are green. This means that if it's a little chilly (and it's only March 17, so of course it is), then chances are that the hoodie you put on today will be green... or grey with green writing... or gold with green writing... etc. Point is: if you've thrown on some of your U of A swag, it likely has some green on it.
"I'm Going to Be That Teacher"

The most likely place to spot this person will be in the Education Building. You'll know who they are because they'll have a super bright green sweater and will likely have St. Patrick's Day inspired jewellery (i.e. shamrock earrings, necklace, wristband, etc.) or sparkly green tie. This person is also more likely to be wearing fun pins (again, shamrocks are likely to be featured... or maybe a dancing leprechaun). Eventually this person is going to be one of the most beloved elementary school teachers because they'll always have a special outfit for each holiday or theme day. They'll also become known as a dollar store hero (since that's the best place to stock up on holiday themed attire).
"I'm Excited for Spring" Guy/Girl

This person will be wearing green for one of two reasons: 1) They're big on fashion and want to try out the latest pastels from the Spring runways or 2) They think that if they wear enough green, maybe the grass will be inspired and will start to brighten up. Spring is only a few days away, so a little optimism isn't a bad thing.
If you've been to The Bookstore, then you've walked by Grumpy Bear. And while he might always look a little grumpy, it's definitely not a result of being pinched since he's always wearing a little green.
